About the Sanctuary
A Safe and loving haven for our beautiful rescue donkeys, ponies, horses and other animals.

About Us
River Link Donkey and Animal Sanctuary is a dedicated not-for-profit organisation that rescues donkeys, horses, and other animals in need-providing them not only with lifelong sanctuary but also a renewed purpose. These animals, many of whom have experienced trauma or neglect, become part of a deeply therapeutic environment that supports vulnerable individuals across a wide range of communities.

More About Us
-
We are based in Flintshire and cover the whole of the North Wales and the Wirral.
-
We have an established record of rescuing and rehabilitating animals.
-
Our sanctuary provides permanent, loving homes for animals-ensuring dignity, safety, and wellbeing.
-
These animals form the heart of our outreach and support work, contributing to therapeutic and educational services.

Community and Therapeutic Programs
-
Our animals play a pivotal role in what we refer to as "animal-assisted reconnection"—a trauma-informed, nature-based method of emotional and social support. This includes:
-
Family Reconnection Support: In partnership with social services for families in crisis.
-
Alternative Education Pathways: In collaboration with Flintshire Council for students needing non-traditional education.
-
Autism and Neurodiversity Support: Tailored, structured interaction for neurodivergent individuals.
-
Dementia and Elderly Care: Animal-based interaction that fosters memory recall, sensory stimulation, and emotional connection.

Who We Are
Founded by Marion Thompson, who works tirelessly and devotes her life to caring for her ever growing family, River Link is run solely by passionate volunteers and is completely self funded.
